Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan on Friday vowed to enhance cooperation with U.S. corporations in the telecommunication sector.

China encourages multinationals to invest in its technology-intense industries and set up research and development center as well as an operating center in China, said Zeng.

Zeng made the remarks while meeting with Timothy Donahue, board chairman of Sprint Nextel Corp., a telecommunications service provider of the United States.

China hopes that Sprint Nextel will step up cooperation with Chinese enterprises in management and technology so as to realized common development and achieve a win-win outcome, said Zeng.

Zeng also met with Jeong Kim, president of Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, saying that the Bell Labs has carried out sound cooperation with the Chinese government, universities and research institutes.

China will learn from Bell Labs in technological innovation as it has set a strategic goal of building an innovation-oriented nation.
